Saké is
traditionally drunk from small earthenware or ceramic cups.
This has its origin in the culture and custom
of pouring for each other, with small glasses enabling refilling
more often.
But since sake shares many qualities with wine, glasses should receive some attention.
Riedel is an Austrian company which specialises in top of the range tasting glasses.
Their glass design principle is «The content determines the shape ».
Riedel offers more than 80 shapes for wines and spirits and are recognised as
the best specialists in stem glasses.
Late in 1997, Riedel was approached by a producer in Ishikawa Prefecture Fukumitsuya.
The decision was made to focus on daiginjo, as its aromatic nature seemed to
be generally appreciated.
Five panels of professional producers and tasters from all over Japan began the
ambitious process of selecting one glass the industry and consumers would agree
makes saké taste the best. Initially, they began with about 60 shapes,
reduced this quickly to about 12 fairly similar shapes. From these twelve, they
then selected the best glass.
Elegance, lightness and harmony, the Daiginjo had been created to maximise
the enjoyment of Premium saké.
Natural partner of a succesful tasting, we highly recommend this glass for enjoying
your best sakés.
Cheers !!! from Xavier, Kumiko and Jean-Louis.
